Odoo localization in Egypt

A Egypt deployment is not a stock Odoo install with the currency swapped. Tax handling, invoice layout, payroll rules, and the reports your accountant actually files all have to line up before go-live. These are the Egypt items we configure and test as part of the build:

  • โœ“ ETA e-invoicing
  • โœ“ VAT 14% & Schedule Tax
  • โœ“ Social insurance (NOSI)
  • โœ“ Arabic-first Odoo

Checked Localization notes on this page checked on 22 August 2026.

Rates, filing formats, thresholds, and submission windows change. We configure against the rules in force at build time and confirm every figure with your accountant or tax advisor before sign-off. If a rule moves after go-live, it is a support ticket, not a rebuild. Read more on our Odoo localization service.

E-invoicing in Egypt

The scheme, who it binds, and what it makes your system do.

Scheme

ู…ู†ุธูˆู…ุฉ ุงู„ูุงุชูˆุฑุฉ ุงู„ุฅู„ูƒุชุฑูˆู†ูŠุฉ and ู…ู†ุธูˆู…ุฉ ุงู„ุฅูŠุตุงู„ ุงู„ุฅู„ูƒุชุฑูˆู†ูŠ, the Egyptian e-invoice system and e-receipt system

Authority: Egyptian Tax Authority (ู…ุตู„ุญุฉ ุงู„ุถุฑุงุฆุจ ุงู„ู…ุตุฑูŠุฉ), ETA

Where it stands

Egypt runs a clearance model: a B2B or B2G invoice is submitted to the ETA portal and validated before it counts as a valid invoice. B2C is a separate e-receipt system that is still being switched on wave by wave, so two different builds are in play.

What it requires
  • Documents generated as XML or JSON in the ETA schema.
  • A CAdES-BES electronic signature applied with an eSeal certificate held on an HSM or a USB token, over a canonicalised serialisation of the document so formatting differences do not break the signature.

Tax in Egypt

What the tax configuration has to get right before go-live.

  • The standard VAT rate is 14% and applies to all goods and services, with limited exceptions. Machinery and equipment carry 5%.

  • VAT returns are filed monthly and must be submitted within one month following the end of the reporting period. Payment falls due at the same time as the return.

  • Withholding tax applies to local payments above EGP 300: 1.0% on contracting and supplying, 3.0% on all types of services and 5.0% on commissions. These are advance corporate tax payments, not an extra cost, so the ERP must track them as recoverable against the CIT liability.

  • Payments to non-residents carry 20% withholding on royalties and on service payments. Dividends to non-resident corporate shareholders are 10% for unlisted shares and 5% for shares listed on the EGX, before treaty relief.

  • The corporate income tax return is due within four months of the financial year end.

Payroll in Egypt

What payroll has to calculate, withhold, and file.

  • Social insurance is charged on the social insurance salary at 18.75% for the employer and 11% for the employee.

  • The insurable wage band effective 1 January 2026 runs from EGP 2,700 to EGP 16,700 per month. The cap is reset annually, so payroll needs the band as a dated parameter, not a hard-coded number.

  • Health insurance subscription is charged at 4% employer and 1% employee for basic cover, on top of social insurance.

  • Labour Law No. 14 of 2025 took effect on 1 September 2025, with labour dispute provisions from 1 October 2025.

  • Under Labour Law No. 14 of 2025 employers must grant an annual salary increment of at least 3% of the social insured salary, with temporary exemptions available for eligible employers. That is a recurring payroll rule, not a one-off.

Accounting in Egypt

The reporting framework your books sit inside.

  • Egypt has not adopted IFRS. Financial statements follow Egyptian Accounting Standards (EAS). Each standard or change is made by ministerial decree and published in the Egyptian Gazette, developed by a standard setting committee chaired by the chairman of the Financial Regulatory Authority.

  • EAS is close to IFRS but not identical and not as complete. Two differences bite in an ERP: employees' profit sharing is recognised as an equity distribution rather than an expense in profit or loss, and a different model applies to the effect of currency devaluation. EAS also does not allow some IFRS options, including presenting a single statement of comprehensive income.

  • The practical consequence for an Odoo build is that the default IFRS-shaped profit and loss and the employee profit share posting both need reworking. Odoo's l10n_eg gives a chart of accounts and taxes, not an EAS-compliant presentation.

Payment gateways in Egypt

The providers a checkout in Egypt actually needs, and how each one reaches Odoo.

What the badges mean In OdooCommunity modulePaid connectorCustom build Unconfirmed
Paymob In Odoo

Paymob is an Egypt based payment service provider and it is one of the few local gateways Odoo ships in the box. The Odoo 19 module is scoped to Egypt with EGP, and it is the fastest route to a working Egyptian checkout.

Meeza In Odoo

Meeza is Egypt's national card scheme, regulated by the Central Bank of Egypt and issued through the Egyptian Banks Company, and it is the card many financial inclusion and payroll customers hold. Odoo 19 ships Meeza as a card brand and PayTabs and Paymob both accept it, so it shows on the checkout as a real logo rather than a generic card box.

Mobile wallets (Vodafone Cash, Orange Cash, e& Cash, WE Pay) In Odoo

Telco mobile wallets licensed by the Central Bank of Egypt are how a very large group of Egyptians pay without a card. Odoo 19 ships a Mobile Wallets Egypt payment method restricted to Egypt and EGP, and Paymob maps its wallet gateway straight onto it.

Fawry Paid connector

Fawry lets an Egyptian customer order online and then pay cash at a corner shop, pharmacy, kiosk, ATM or post office, and it runs a very large acceptance network across the country. For any merchant selling outside Cairo it is often the difference between an order and an abandoned cart.

InstaPay (Instant Payment Network) Custom build

InstaPay is the Central Bank of Egypt's instant rail, operated by the Egyptian Banks Company, moving money between bank accounts, wallets and cards using a mobile number or Instant Payment Address. Egyptians now treat it as the default way to send money, so buyers ask for it by name even though no Odoo connector exists.

Cash on delivery In Odoo

Cash on delivery is still a large part of Egyptian e-commerce and every domestic courier here, Bosta, Mylerz, Aramex and ShipBlu included, is built around collecting and remitting it. It changes the Odoo setup because reconciliation happens against courier settlement files, not against the checkout.

valU In Odoo

valU is an Egyptian instalment platform listed on the Egyptian Exchange and it appears at checkout across local retail. Odoo 19 ships a valU payment method locked to Egypt and EGP, and Paymob and PayTabs both route it.

Sympl In Odoo

Sympl is an Egyptian buy now pay later provider aimed at younger shoppers who do not hold a credit card. Odoo 19 ships a Sympl payment method restricted to Egypt and EGP and Paymob carries it.

Halan (MNT-Halan) In Odoo

MNT-Halan is one of Egypt's larger fintech lenders and its Halan instalment option turns up on local checkouts. Odoo 19 ships a Halan payment method scoped to Egypt and EGP and Paymob maps a dedicated Halan gateway to it.

Souhoola In Odoo

Souhoola is an Egyptian consumer instalment provider used for mid and high ticket retail purchases. Odoo 19 ships a Souhoola payment method restricted to Egypt and EGP and Paymob routes it.

Contact In Odoo

Contact is a long established Egyptian consumer finance name and its instalment plans are what many buyers reach for on furniture, appliances and electronics. Odoo 19 ships a Contact payment method locked to Egypt and EGP and Paymob carries it.

Forsa In Odoo

Forsa is an Egyptian buy now pay later provider offered through local gateways. Odoo 19 ships a Forsa payment method restricted to Egypt and EGP and Paymob maps it.

Aman In Odoo

Aman is an Egyptian payments and consumer finance brand offering both cash collection and instalments. Odoo 19 ships an Aman payment method scoped to Egypt and EGP and Paymob routes it.

Premium Card In Odoo

Premium Card is an Egyptian instalment card used for retail purchases spread over months. Odoo 19 ships a Premium Card payment method restricted to Egypt and EGP and Paymob carries it.

Kiosk cash payment (Aman and Masary terminals) In Odoo

Kiosk payment lets a customer place an order online and hand cash to an Aman or Masary terminal in their neighbourhood, which is how unbanked buyers pay for online orders. Odoo 19 ships a Kiosk payment method locked to Egypt and EGP and Paymob maps its cash aggregator gateway to it.

Bank instalments (EMI) In Odoo

Egyptian banks let card holders convert a purchase into monthly instalments at checkout, which is standard for higher value baskets. Odoo 19 ships a Bank Installments payment method restricted to Egypt and EGP, so it can be shown as its own option rather than hidden behind the card button.

PayTabs Paid connector

PayTabs lists Egypt as a supported market with dedicated Arabic and English pages, and its Egyptian acceptance includes Visa, Mastercard, Meeza and valU. It is a common second gateway for merchants who also sell into Saudi Arabia, the UAE or Jordan.

Amazon Payment Services In Odoo

Amazon Payment Services is a MENA acquirer that names Egypt among the nine countries it serves, and Odoo 19 ships its connector. It suits an Egyptian merchant who also needs one contract across Gulf markets.

Wire transfer In Odoo

Bank transfer is how Egyptian B2B invoices are usually settled, and with InstaPay behind it the money often arrives the same day. Odoo's built in Wire Transfer provider shows the account details and reference and you confirm the payment once the funds land.

Stripe In Odoo

Stripe's own country list does not include Egypt, so an Egyptian company cannot open a Stripe account even though Odoo ships the Stripe connector. The good news is that Odoo ships Paymob instead, which is built for this market.

Shipping and couriers in Egypt

The carriers that move volume here, and what it takes to rate, label, and track them from Odoo.

Bosta Paid connector

Bosta runs over 50 hubs across Egypt, moved 37 million parcels in 2025 and opened a large automated sorting facility in Cairo in January 2026. It handles cash on delivery, returns and fulfilment, which is the full package an Egyptian online seller needs.

Mylerz Paid connector

Mylerz is an Egyptian last mile and fulfilment operator offering cash on delivery, warehousing and merchant APIs across several countries. It is one of the names that shows up on every serious Egyptian e-commerce shortlist.

Aramex Paid connector

Aramex is one of the main courier and parcel operators in Egypt and offers cash on delivery and returns for business customers. It is the usual pick when a merchant needs one carrier covering both Egypt and the Gulf.

Egypt Post Custom build

Egypt Post is the national postal operator with 4,238 post offices, and it runs EMS express plus an EasyBox product aimed at online merchants. Its branch density reaches places the private couriers price badly.

ShipBlu Custom build

ShipBlu does next day and same day delivery in Cairo, Giza and Alexandria, handles cash on delivery and returns, and publishes integrations for Shopify, WooCommerce and Magento. There is no Odoo connector, so it is an API build.

J&T Express Egypt Paid connector

J&T Express runs a network in Egypt as part of its Middle East operation and is used by high volume sellers. There is a paid Odoo 19 connector for it, so it does not need a custom build.

Egypt Express (EGXPRESS) Custom build

Egypt Express runs domestic express with same day and next day options, cash on delivery, station to station service and its own cargo operation at Cairo International Airport. It also does customs clearance and freight forwarding for merchants importing stock.

Flextock Custom build, unconfirmed

Flextock offers fulfilment plus a last mile aggregation layer called Flexship that dispatches across several Egyptian couriers from one account. Treat the Flextock account and its fees as a required dependency, because Odoo would integrate with Flextock and not with the couriers behind it.

DHL Express In Odoo

DHL is one of the main international operators in the Egyptian courier and parcel market and handles customs on outbound shipments. Odoo 19 ships the DHL Express connector, so rating and labels work once you have an account number.

FedEx In Odoo

FedEx is named among the major operators in the Egyptian courier and parcel market and is a standard outbound choice for exporters. Odoo 19 ships the FedEx connector.

UPS In Odoo

UPS operates in the Egyptian courier and parcel market and covers international express and freight. Odoo 19 ships the UPS connector, so it is a drop in third option beside DHL and FedEx.

What Odoo covers out of the box in Egypt

The question behind every quote: how much of this is configuration and how much is a build. The first list ships with Odoo. The second is a paid connector, a community module, or work we scope and price up front.

Localization modules
l10n_eg Egypt - Accounting l10n_eg_edi_eta Egyptian E-invoice Integration
โœ“ Covered 5
  • Egyptian chart of accounts and taxes through l10n_eg
  • ETA e-invoice submission from a sales journal, with ETA activity code and branch ID set per journal
  • ETA codes on customers and products
  • ETA portal API credentials, Client ID and Client Secret 1 and 2, registered against your Odoo system
  • USB key signing routed through the Windows virtual IoT, which generates the access token between the signing device and a cloud-hosted database
! Needs work 6
  • B2C e-receipts. The official modules cover invoices, not the e-receipt system. Point of sale e-receipt submission is a paid third-party app or a build, which is why several ETA e-receipt POS apps exist on the store.
  • Signing infrastructure. Every person who signs needs a specific USB key obtained from the ETA or Egypt Trust, and a cloud database needs a Windows virtual IoT box in the loop. That is a hosting and operations design decision, not a configuration setting.
  • EAS presentation. Employee profit share as an equity distribution, no single statement of comprehensive income, and the EAS foreign currency model all differ from Odoo's default IFRS-shaped reports.
  • Arabic invoice and report layouts.
  • Local withholding tax at 1%, 3% and 5% on supplier payments above EGP 300, tracked as advance corporate tax.
  • Payroll. There is no official Egyptian payroll localization: social insurance at 18.75% and 11% within the annual wage band, health insurance, the Labour Law 14 of 2025 3% annual increment and training fund contribution, and salary tax all need building or buying.

Everything under "Needs work" is quoted as scope, not discovered mid-project. Bring your own module list to a scoping call and we will mark it up the same way against Egypt.

Odoo services in Egypt

We work as an Odoo development company and Odoo implementation partner for businesses in Egypt. That covers the whole engagement: consulting on whether Odoo fits, configuring it, writing the custom modules that fit requires, connecting it to the systems you already run, and supporting it afterwards. Our Odoo developers and consultants deliver remotely, and travel for discovery, training and go-live week.

If you are moving off spreadsheets or replacing older ERP software, an ERP migration is the shape of the project and the Egypt items on this page decide how hard it is. As ERP consultants we will say when Odoo is the right ERP solution for you and when it is not. We work on Odoo 17, 18 and 19, on Odoo Community and Odoo Enterprise, and on Odoo cloud hosting or your own servers. Odoo customization, an Odoo upgrade from an older release, and Odoo AMC and support contracts are all in scope. We will say plainly when the edition you run is the wrong one, and what the Enterprise license would change.

Odoo pricing and what an Odoo project costs in Egypt and the Odoo modules we publish

How we deliver in Egypt

Delivery is remote-first. We do not claim a branch office in every city we serve, and we do not price one into your project. We travel on-site for discovery workshops, user training, and go-live week when the work calls for people in the room. What you get either way is senior engineers on the build.

  • 1 Timezone overlap. Our teams shift to hold working-hour overlap with local office hours, so Cairo gets live hours, not overnight email.
  • 2 English delivery, multilingual team. Documentation and training are in English. Our project teams also work in Arabic and Urdu.
  • 3 Bilingual output. Odoo runs multi-language and right-to-left, so bilingual invoices and interfaces are a configuration step rather than a custom build.
  • 4 Visible progress. Daily stand-ups, weekly demos, and a written weekly report. You see the build as it happens, not at handover.
  • 5 Test-database sign-off. Your team runs the Egypt configuration in a test environment and approves it before cutover, with a rollback plan in writing.
  • 6 Support after go-live. SLA-backed contracts with 2h, 4h, or 8h response tiers, 24/7 monitoring, verified backups, and security patching.

Questions

Odoo in Egypt

Straight answers on scope, cost, and how a build in Egypt actually runs. Still stuck? Ask us directly.

Do we need to be in Cairo to work with you? +

No. Odoo projects are delivered remotely by default, and location inside Egypt rarely changes the plan or the price. We travel on-site for discovery workshops, user training, and go-live week when the work calls for it. Cities we cover for on-site visits: Cairo, Alexandria, Giza, New Cairo, 6th of October City, Mansoura.

Which timezone and language does a project in Egypt run in? +

Delivery, documentation, and training run in English. Our teams also work in Arabic and Urdu. We hold working-hour overlap with your own office hours, with daily stand-ups and a written weekly report, so progress never depends on one call landing.

Can Odoo run in EGP for an entity registered in Egypt? +

Yes. Odoo is multi-company and multi-currency, so your books can run in EGP while you buy or sell in other currencies. The locale code we set up for this market is ar-EG, and Odoo supports multi-language and right-to-left layouts where a deployment needs them.

How long does an Odoo implementation in Egypt take? +

Single-module projects run 3-4 weeks. Multi-module rollouts run 8-12 weeks. Multi-company or multi-country programmes run 4-9 months with phased go-lives. The Egypt localization items above are configured inside that build, not after it.

What does an Odoo project in Egypt cost? +

From $4,900 for a Starter scope (Up to 2 modules, 10 users, Discovery + config + training). From $14,900 for a Growth rollout (Up to 6 modules, 50 users, Custom modules + reports). Larger multi-company programmes are priced on scope after discovery. Localization work is scoped and priced up front, not added later.

Do you work with Odoo Community or Enterprise in Egypt? +

Both, and we migrate in either direction. The choice comes down to how technical your team is and whether you need Studio, IoT, or MRP II. The Egypt configuration described on this page is done in whichever edition you run.

Which Odoo versions do you work on? +

Current releases, including Odoo 17, Odoo 18 and Odoo 19, on Community and on Enterprise. If you are on an older version the first question is whether to upgrade before or after the Egypt work, and that depends on how much of what you need already ships in the newer release.

Can we see an Odoo demo before committing? +

Yes. We set up an Odoo demo on your own data rather than a generic one, because the Egypt specifics are the part worth seeing. Ask and we will scope what to load.

We are replacing spreadsheets or an older ERP system. Where does that start? +

With the data, not the software. An ERP implementation in Egypt usually stalls on master data quality rather than configuration, so the first phase is deciding what comes across, what gets cleaned, and what stays behind.
