The container ledger

✓ A water business does not sell bottles, it lends them. Every full container that leaves the truck is an asset sitting in somebody's kitchen, and a deposit sitting on your balance sheet.
✓ A ledger line per movement: opening balance, delivered, empties collected, written off, count adjustment, deposit only
✓ A running balance per customer, and a deposit held against it
✓ The shortfall figure: containers out with no deposit behind them, which is the number that quietly turns into written off stock
✓ A statement you can print and hand to a customer who argues about the count
✓ Containers written off per customer and per round, so you know which round is losing them

Coupons and subscriptions

✓ Coupon books sold in advance, one coupon to one bottle, priced per customer segment
✓ Unredeemed coupons carried as a liability and sized, with an expiry date so it cannot grow forever

✓ A monthly rental fee billed by a scheduled job, skipped where the cooler is inside a subscription price
