Tax rules that shape an Odoo configuration in United Arab Emirates
Each item below is one thing the tax setup has to get right before go-live.
- 1
VAT is 5%. Mandatory registration at AED 375,000 of taxable supplies, voluntary at AED 187,500.
- 2
The standard VAT period is quarterly below AED 150 million annual turnover and monthly at AED 150 million or above. The return and any payment must reach the FTA within 28 days of the end of the tax period, filed through EmaraTax.
- 3
Corporate tax is 9% on taxable income above AED 375,000 and 0% up to it, effective for financial years starting on or after 1 June 2023. A Qualifying Free Zone Person pays 0% on qualifying income and 9% on the rest.
- 4
A Domestic Minimum Top-up Tax of 15% applies to multinational groups with consolidated global revenue above EUR 750 million, for financial years starting on or after 1 January 2025.
- 5
The corporate tax return is filed electronically no later than nine months after the end of the tax period, and records must be kept for seven years after the end of the tax period.
The reporting framework your United Arab Emirates books sit inside
What your statements have to comply with, and what that means for the chart of accounts.
- 1
IFRS is the required accounting standard for corporate tax purposes under Ministerial Decision No. 114 of 2023. A taxable person with revenue not exceeding AED 50 million may apply IFRS for SMEs, and a person with revenue not exceeding AED 3 million may use cash basis accounting.
- 2
Under Ministerial Decision No. 84 of 2025, effective for financial years starting on or after 1 January 2025, all tax groups must prepare audited special purpose financial statements. The AED 50 million consolidated revenue exemption that tax groups had under Ministerial Decision No. 82 of 2023 is gone. Non-group taxable persons still need audited statements above AED 50 million revenue, and Qualifying Free Zone Persons need them regardless.

Odoo's UAE chart of accounts is aligned to IFRS and FTA requirements, and the VAT return report follows the official FTA structure. It exports to Excel and PDF for manual submission: there is no FTA filing API in the localization.
Checked Localization notes on this page checked on 22 August 2026.
Rates, formats, thresholds and submission windows change. We configure against the rules in force at build time and confirm every figure with your accountant or tax advisor before sign-off. If a rule moves after go-live, it is a support ticket, not a rebuild. Read more on our Odoo localization service.
How we build accounting and tax for United Arab Emirates
The delivery method behind the list above. The same four steps on a 10-user rollout and on a multi-company programme, with the depth scaled to the scope.
- 1 Chart of accounts from your accountant. We configure against the mapping your accountant signs, not a default template someone picked in the install wizard.
- 2 Every tax gets a test document. An invoice, a credit note and a period report per tax, checked against a figure your accountant produced independently.
- 3 Opening balances reconcile. Prior-period data is loaded and tied back to your last filed set of accounts before anyone posts a live transaction.
- 4 Filing outputs come out of Odoo. Reports are produced from the system, checked line by line, then handed over with a written procedure so your team runs them without us.
What we need from you to quote it
Bring these to the first call and you get a scoped, priced accounting and tax plan for United Arab Emirates instead of a range.
- โ Your current chart of accounts and the tax codes in use today.
- โ The last filed set of accounts and the last filed return.
- โ The name of the accountant or tax advisor who signs off the configuration.
