What an Odoo implementation costs in Australia

The published starting points first, then the honest part: what actually moves the number in this market, taken from our own Australia localization notes rather than a general answer about ERP projects.

The starting points we publish

The same figures as our pricing page, and they are starting points rather than quotes. Scope decides the number: the modules you switch on, the users you train, the systems Odoo has to talk to, and how much of the Australia list further down is configuration rather than a build.

Starter per project

From $4,900

Single-module implementations for SMBs.

  • Up to 2 modules
  • 10 users
  • Discovery + config + training
  • 4 weeks
  • 1 month hypercare
Growth per project

From $14,900

Multi-module roll-outs with customization.

  • Up to 6 modules
  • 50 users
  • Custom modules + reports
  • 8 weeks
  • 3 months hypercare
Enterprise scope-based

Custom

Multi-company, multi-country, full-stack.

  • Unlimited modules
  • Unlimited users
  • Custom architecture
  • Phased rollout
  • SLA-backed support

Read the tiers as scope brackets, not as country prices. Nothing on this page charges more for Australia because it is Australia. What changes between markets is how much of the work below is a build, and that is what decides where you land inside a bracket, or outside it.

Timelines we publish: Single-module Starter projects run 3-4 weeks. Multi-module Growth projects run 8-12 weeks. Enterprise multi-country rollouts run 4-9 months with phased go-lives.

Fixed price or time and materials: Yes. For well-scoped implementations we deliver fixed-price with milestones. For discovery-phase work or ongoing customization we offer transparent T&M.

What drives the number in Australia

Everything below comes from our own Australia research file. The counts are the short version: how many things a rollout here has to reach, and what each one takes to reach from Odoo.

The e-invoicing line

eInvoicing, on the Peppol network, using the PINT A-NZ Billing specification

Authority: Australian Taxation Office, acting as the Australian Peppol Authority

In a market with a live scheme this is the biggest single variable on a quote. What follows is what our Australia notes actually say, and what each of those things costs to build and test.

Exchange through a network

Documents move through a network or an intermediary rather than a portal you log into, so there is a party to contract, onboard and test with before any Odoo work is proven end to end. Book calendar time for that, not only build time.

Peppol four-corner model. You connect to an accredited access point, not to the ATO. There is no clearance step, no government invoice approval, no QR code and no fiscal seal.

A specified format

The format is fixed down to field level, so the work is a mapping sheet rather than a template edit. Every field is a decision about where that data lives in Odoo today and who keeps it right afterwards.

PINT A-NZ Billing is the format, replacing the earlier A-NZ Peppol BIS 3.0 profile. PINT A-NZ Billing Process v1.1.2 carries a release date of 21 November 2025.

What pushes a quote in Australia up

Each item is a real work package with its own tests and its own handover. The quoted lines are printed from our Australia file as checked, not summarised.

9 payment rails have no Odoo connector we would put in production

Each one is an API build with its own tests: authorization, capture, refund and a deliberate failure in sandbox, repeated once in production with a small live amount, then settlement mapped to the ledger so the bank reconciliation clears. Price them one at a time. This is where a checkout budget doubles quietly.

  • BPAY. BPAY is how Australian customers pay bills from their online banking using a biller code and a Customer Reference Number, and over 25 financial institutions support it. For an Odoo buyer this means invoices need a CRN printed on them and a reconciliation process, which is a real configuration job.
  • PayID (New Payments Platform / Osko). A PayID is a mobile number, email address, ABN or organisation identifier linked to a bank account, offered by over 100 Australian financial institutions, and the payer sees the account holder name before confirming. Australian businesses use it to get paid within minutes instead of waiting on a batch file.
  • PayTo. PayTo lets a customer authorise a business to take payments from their bank account under an agreement they manage in their own online banking, and Amazon Australia already offers it at checkout. It is the modern replacement for direct debit forms and matters for any Odoo subscription or recurring billing setup.
  • Airwallex. Airwallex sells checkout, payment links and ecommerce plugins to Australian businesses, supports over 160 local payment methods and lets you hold local currency accounts including AUD. It suits Australian Odoo sellers who ship overseas and want to settle in the buyer's currency.
+

4 payment rails need a paid connector

The connector licence sits outside our fee and is quoted separately by whoever sells it. Our side is configuration, the four-test cycle per provider, and the reconciliation mapping. Budget for keeping each one current across Odoo upgrades, because a connector that stops at your next version is a cost you meet later.

4 carriers have no Odoo connector

Rating, label printing, tracking and cash on delivery reconciliation are four separate pieces of work with four separate failure modes, and we quote them separately. Carrier test credentials rarely carry your negotiated rates, so the account and the rate card get validated before the connector is written.

  • Team Global Express. Team Global Express moves over 100 million items a year through more than 650 depots and 1,800 out of home collection points across Australia and New Zealand, including temperature controlled and dangerous goods. It suits Odoo buyers in manufacturing, food and healthcare who ship pallets as well as parcels.
  • Allied Express. Allied Express operates depots in every Australian capital plus a network of 50 agencies, offering courier, taxi truck and local and national distribution. Small Australian businesses often use it for same day and metro work that a parcel carrier will not take.
  • Hunter Express. Hunter Express covers freight and courier work nationally and also runs third party logistics with warehousing and pick and pack, plus exhibition and event logistics. That combination matters to Odoo buyers who want inventory and outbound handled by one provider.
  • MachShip. MachShip is an Australia and New Zealand transport management platform covering over 500 carriers, with an API, webhooks and pre built connectors, and it is aimed at pallet and freight shippers rather than only parcels. No Odoo connector was confirmed, so plan an API build and a MachShip subscription.

6 carriers sit behind a paid connector

Cheaper than a build and not free. The licence is quoted separately, and our work is the account setup, the rate check against your contract, and the label and tracking test on real shipments.

4 items Odoo does not cover for Australia

This is the honest part of a quote. Each line below is scoped, priced and agreed as a build before the project starts, rather than discovered halfway through and raised as a change request.

  • Deferred GST. The localisation does not fetch the DGST balance automatically from the ATO, so the figure goes into the BAS by hand each period.
  • Payday super, live since 1 July 2026. The Odoo 19 Australian documentation reviewed does not describe the seven business day fund receipt window or the qualifying earnings base, so confirm your version handles both before go-live rather than assuming it does.
  • State payroll tax. Rates and thresholds differ per state and no Odoo payroll tax module is documented, so this is configuration or a build.
  • Peppol sending. Confirm whether your Odoo deployment transmits through an accredited access point or only produces the XML for upload, because that decides whether you need an access point contract.
+

14 statutory items to configure, test and hand over

Tax, accounting and payroll items on our own Australia list. Each one becomes a configuration, a test document and a number your accountant checks independently before sign-off. Individually cheap, collectively the reason a localization is a work package rather than a setting.

+

23 open questions in our own Australia notes

Where our research did not reach a primary source, we mark it open rather than pricing a guess. Those questions get closed in discovery against your entity, your documents and your advisor, which is exactly why a fixed price comes after discovery and not before it.

What holds a quote in Australia down

The other half of an honest answer. Where Odoo already covers this market, the work is configuration and proof, and that is the cheapest kind of day on any project.

6 official Odoo modules cover part of this market

Configuration and testing, not development. Anything on this list is install, configure and verify work that sits inside the tier price rather than beside it.

What you get without a build

Printed as checked. Where a requirement is met by something below, the work is proving it against your documents, not writing it.

  • Australian chart of accounts and GST tax configuration at 10% standard, with variants for different transaction types including TPAR-specific taxes (l10n_au).
  • Business Activity Statement covering GST, PAYG withholding and deferred GST, plus the Taxable Payments Annual Report (l10n_au_reports).
  • ABA credit transfer file generation for bulk bank payments, installed automatically with the base localisation, plus remittance advice.
  • Odoo can generate Peppol XML for a partner on the network, but its documented Peppol formats are BIS Billing 3.0, XRechnung CIUS and NLCIUS. PINT A-NZ Billing, the format the Australian mandate uses, is not listed. Confirm the format before committing.
  • Payroll: an Australian Employee salary structure installed with l10n_au_hr_payroll, with accounting entries via l10n_au_hr_payroll_account.
  • STP and SuperStream compliance through l10n_au_hr_payroll_api, which submits via the SuperChoice API with ATO-approved security controls including MFA, session timeouts and audit logging. STP finalisation is a report in the Payroll app, run by a designated STP Responsible user, with the annual declaration due 14 July.
-

Payroll starts from a localization rather than a blank page

A payroll localization module is in the list above, so the structure exists and the work is configuration, employee data quality and a parallel run. Bad master data, not missing code, is what slips a payroll go-live.

4 payment providers ship with Odoo

Configured before anyone buys anything. Starting from what already ships is the cheapest checkout you can have, and it keeps the number of things that break after an upgrade down.

No live authority integration to build here, on this evidence

Where documents are exchanged or filed rather than cleared in the moment, e-invoicing is a format and archive job instead of a live integration, which is the cheaper end of this work. It also moves. Schemes get mandated with lead time, so we get the invoice data right now rather than retrofitting it under a deadline later.

  • Australia uses Peppol post-audit exchange, not clearance: the invoice goes supplier access point to buyer access point and the ATO never sees it. There is no B2B mandate; the obligations sit on Commonwealth government buyers.
  • Commonwealth government agencies. All federal agencies have had to be able to receive Peppol e-invoices since 1 July 2022. Non-corporate Commonwealth entities must be receiving at least 30% of invoices by e-invoicing from 1 July 2026 and must be able to process and send e-invoices automatically by December 2026. Private-sector B2B use stays voluntary: the proposed Business eInvoicing Right was never enforced.

Checked Localization notes quoted on this page checked on 22 August 2026.

Prices on this page are indicative starting points for a scope, not an offer, and they do not include any third-party licence, connector or subscription you buy directly. Rules, formats and provider coverage change, so we confirm scope against the rules in force at build time before a fixed price is signed. See pricing and our Odoo localization service.

What gets underestimated on a budget for Australia

Not the build. Almost never the build. In Australia the lines that turn a good number into a bad one are the ones above: whichever of them is a build rather than configuration, plus your own team's hours on master data and sign-off. Those are cheap to plan and expensive to discover.

  1. 1 Your teamโ€™s hours, not ours. The days we quote are ours. The days that decide the outcome are yours: cleaning master data, agreeing the chart of accounts, testing, and deciding. Name one person who can decide, and protect their calendar.
  2. 2 Data migration is an agreement problem. Opening balances, open invoices, stock counts and the item master. Pulling the data is the easy half. Agreeing which version of it is true takes longer, because the old system carries duplicates and wrong costs that nobody has owned for years.

The full list of what gets underestimated, and what we need to quote it — the same in every market, so it is written up once.
