Odoo Customization Services in Bangladesh

Custom code is a liability you agree to carry. We keep it small, keep it in its own module, and write it so the next upgrade does not eat it.

What changes the cost of Odoo customization in Bangladesh

The delivery method is the same everywhere. What moves the number is what this market demands of the system, and how much of that Odoo already covers.

E-invoicing

Bangladesh has no e-invoicing mandate to clear today. That lowers the build cost now, and it makes the invoicing design worth getting right anyway, because every market on this list that has since mandated one gave businesses months rather than years to comply.

Payments

13 of the 16 payment options that matter in Bangladesh are not shipped with Odoo, so they need a paid connector or a build. 3 ship in the box.

Shipping

9 of the 12 couriers used in Bangladesh have no Odoo connector. 3 do. Which ones you actually use changes the estimate more than the number of users does.

Gaps in the localization

Odoo's Bangladesh localization does not cover everything. The gaps are listed on the country page and each one is either a build or a bought module.

Payroll

Statutory payroll in Bangladesh has its own rules. Whether Odoo ships a payroll localization for this market decides if that is configuration or development.

Where Bangladesh starts from

Bangladesh has 3 native localization items in Odoo and 6 documented gaps beyond them. Customization work here usually starts at that gap list, not from a blank module.

Where we deliver in Bangladesh

Customization does not change shape by city. The brief is written the same way for a team in Dhaka as for one in Khulna: what the process actually is today, and where Odoo's default flow does not match it. Dhaka, Chattogram, Sylhet, Gazipur, Narayanganj and Khulna are covered.

What odoo customization has to satisfy in Bangladesh

The rules that decide how much of this is configuration and how much is a build. Everything below is from our Bangladesh register, checked against a primary source.

No national e-invoicing scheme · National Board of Revenue (NBR), เฆœเฆพเฆคเง€เฆฏเฆผ เฆฐเฆพเฆœเฆธเงเฆฌ เฆฌเง‹เฆฐเงเฆก

As of 22 August 2026 Bangladesh has no clearance or reporting e-invoicing mandate. A VAT-registered seller issues a Mushak 6.3 challan on paper or from its own software, and the only real-time reporting to NBR runs through EFD/SDC hardware in sectors NBR has named one by one.

  • Mushak 6.3 challan showing buyer and seller details, description, quantity, unit price, total value and VAT.
  • No XML or JSON schema, no digital signature or seal, no clearance step, no accredited intermediary, no NBR-assigned document ID.
  • EFD/SDC devices in mandated sectors push point-of-sale data to NBR. This is device-level reporting, not ERP-to-authority integration, so an Odoo build does not replace the device.
  • Mushak 9.1 VAT return is filed through the NBR VAT online portal. PwC states manual return filing is completely dispensed with from 1 July 2026.
  • An NBR reform panel recommended e-invoicing for VAT in February 2025. Nothing has been enacted, so treat any e-invoicing roadmap as unfunded planning.
  • Accounting Companies whose securities trade in a public market, and other large publicly accountable entities, must use IFRS as adopted in Bangladesh, issued locally as Bangladesh Financial Reporting Standards (BFRS). The Financial Reporting Act 2015 gives the Financial Reporting Council the power to set and issue those standards in conformity with IASB standards.
  • Accounting Audit reports signed by ICAB practising members carry a Document Verification Code, a unique code issued by ICAB's Document Verification System that lets a regulator check the report online. BSEC-listed companies, microfinance institutions, NGOs taking donor funding and companies seeking investment registration all need DVC-carrying reports.
  • Accounting Odoo's Bangladesh localization ships a chart of accounts, taxes and a tax report only. There is no Mushak register, no Mushak 9.1 report and no audit file export in the official module.
  • Payroll There is no general contributory state social insurance for private sector employees. Employees, including foreign nationals, contribute 7% to 8% of salary to a provident fund and the employer matches it.
  • Payroll Gratuity is payable on termination of employment, so the payroll model needs an accrual, not just a period cost.
  • Payroll Companies in scope must pay 5% of net profit into the worker funds under section 232 of the Bangladesh Labour Act 2006, split 80:10:10 between the Workers Profit Participation Fund, the Welfare Fund and the Bangladesh Workers Welfare Foundation Fund. A company is in scope if it has paid-up capital of Taka 1 crore or permanent assets of Taka 2 crore on the last day of its accounting year. The contribution is due within nine months of the year end.
  • Payroll Employers deduct income tax at source from salaries under the NBR slab rates and report it through the quarterly withholding return, so payroll and the withholding return have to reconcile.

How we run the work

5 stages, the same in every market: Requirement capture, Technical specification and estimate, Build in sprints, Test and review, Deploy and hand over. The method does not change by country, so it is written up once rather than repeated here.

Questions we get asked

Will customisation break our next Odoo upgrade?
Well-written custom modules do not break, they need porting, and the effort depends on how deeply they reach into standard behaviour. Code that extends existing models ports quickly. Code that replaces standard logic is expensive at every version. That is the single biggest reason we push back on requests that duplicate what Odoo already does.
Do we own the code?
Yes. Source goes to your repository with the commit history intact, plus build and deploy instructions. There is no licence key, no time bomb and no obfuscation. If you replace us, the next team can read what we wrote.
Does Odoo have an official localization for Bangladesh?
Yes. Odoo ships 3 native items for Bangladesh, covering the basics of the chart of accounts and statutory setup. 6 areas are still outside that localization and get built or bought separately.
Is e-invoicing mandatory in Bangladesh?
As of 22 August 2026 Bangladesh has no clearance or reporting e-invoicing mandate. A VAT-registered seller issues a Mushak 6.3 challan on paper or from its own software, and the only real-time reporting to NBR runs through EFD/SDC hardware in sectors NBR has named one by one. The Bangladesh e-invoicing page carries the full detail and the sources.
What VAT or sales tax does Odoo have to handle in Bangladesh?
The standard VAT rate is 15%. Reduced rates of 1.5%, 2%, 2.4%, 4.5%, 5%, 7.5% and 10% apply to specified goods and services under the Second Schedule of the VAT and SD Act 2012.
Do you work with businesses in Dhaka and other parts of Bangladesh?
Yes. Odoo customization runs remotely by default, and being based in one city inside Bangladesh does not change the plan or the price. Cities we cover for on-site visits: Dhaka, Chattogram, Sylhet, Gazipur, Narayanganj, Khulna. We travel on-site for discovery workshops and go-live week when the engagement calls for it.
